Courchevel

Courchevel is often said to be the Cannes of the Alps with its smart, sophisticated restaurants and bars and expensive shops. Courchevel comprises of four different villages, 1850, 1650, 1550 they are all named after there altitude apart from Le Praz which is at 1300. All the villages have there own unique character and charm. However 1850 is the liveliest with the most bars and restaurants.

Courchevel is well known for having some of the best groomed pistes in Europe and forms part of the fabulous Trois Vallees ski area (600km). The Courchevel lift system is excellent, enabling beginners to find wide and easy slopes, intermediates to ski and board the length and breadth of the Trois Vallees on exciting reds or leisurely blues, and experts to find truly challenging blacks and vast areas of off-piste. The facilities for free-stylers are excellent with snow parks scattered across the whole of the Trois Vallees ski area.

There is a large selection of activities on offer to you across the 4 villages once the last lift has closed, including ice-skating, bowling, tobogganing, ice climbing, hang-gliding, climbing, skidooing. If they all sound too energetic and are not for you don't worry there are plenty of bars where you can just grab a vin chaud and settle down in front of a roaring fire.

Spread among the villages are some of the best restaurants in the Alps, a couple of which boast Michelin stars.  For those of you that like a more boisterous time after a hard day on the mountain  fear not there are a number of bars that play live music and offer happy hour deals. If this has left you wanting more there are 2 clubs in 1850 where you can show off your mogul hips to a variety of resident DJs.
